GeoMaster initiates outbound connections to your WITSML server — it does not require any inbound ports to be opened on your network. Your WITSML server must be reachable from the internet (or via a VPN tunnel if you prefer). Most rig data systems are already configured for this.
Yes. GeoMaster supports both WITSML store (push) and WITSML query (pull) architectures. Store-based connections are available for servers that push data proactively. Query-based polling works with any standard WITSML server regardless of vendor.
Some vendors have minor deviations from the WITSML specification. GeoMaster includes a tolerance layer that handles common non-conformances automatically. If you encounter issues with a specific vendor implementation, contact our support team — we have dealt with most vendor quirks and can usually resolve them quickly.
Yes. You can connect GeoMaster to a WITSML archive server and import historical well data exactly as you would a live feed. Alternatively, export WITSML XML from your existing system and upload it directly. LAS files can also be imported for historical log data.
All WITSML connections from GeoMaster use HTTPS (TLS 1.3). We do not support unencrypted HTTP connections to WITSML servers. If your server only supports HTTP, contact us — we can set up a secure relay.
Yes. A single GeoMaster project supports multiple WITSML connections simultaneously. This is particularly useful for multi-well pad drilling or when you need to compare real-time data from offset wells alongside your active well.
